North Hagerstown
High School, Hagerstown, MD

BMGM Architects, LLC provided space programming, architectural
design and production, interior design, and construction administration
for additions and renovations to North Hagerstown High School. BMGM
also coordinated civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering and
telecommunications design for this project.

Clear Spring Elementary School, Clear Spring, MD
BMGM Architects, LLC provided architectural design and production, interior
design, and construction administration for additions and renovations to
Clear Spring Elementary School. BMGM also coordinated civil, mechanical,
and electrical engineering and telecommunications design
for this project. The 1957 building was in need of updating to modern standards
for educational facilities.
The window area was reduced and insulated glazing was used. Coupled with
improved insulation of exterior wall the thermal performance of the building
has been improved. New finishes installed includes VCT, ceramic tile, terrazzo
tile, paint, ceiling tile. Total systemic replacements included mechanical,
electrical, and communications. The buses were separated from traffic with
the creation of a parent drop-off loop and visitor parking area. A new barrel
vaulted entry area was created to identify the main access to the
building.
The
building's exterior is updated with new colorful brick infill areas,
metal roofing and the media center's clerestory. The exterior classroom
walls are being replaced to accommodate new windows, classroom ventilators,
flashings and insulation. The classrooms interior walls remained,
keeping the size of the rooms the same less the new toilet added to
each classroom.

media center expansion, and cafeteria and kitchen. A new canopy was
provided at the parent drop-off loop
- 38,000 s.f. of existing space was completely renovated and contained
the following:
- Administration offices
- Health suite
- Special education classrooms
- Multi-purpose room w/ performance platform (new ramp provided
for accessibility)
- Teacher's professional area
- Gymnasium (new wood floor and equipment)
- Classrooms (grades K through 5, and Pre-K)
- Music and art rooms
- New telecommunications systems and computer network
- Custodial office, storage room, closets and outside maintenance
storage area
